behind the scenes (some honesty and a peek at my planning)

When I stepped into 2025, I choose 'gentleness' as my word of the year.

And that guiding principle has been quite consistent. Sure, there are always unexpected life stresses and business ups and downs thrown at me, but that gentleness as a pilot has proven quite useful.

In that calmness that I tried to build this year, something unexpected happened.

A spark.

A desire for something new, and yet familiar. Maybe something more?

It was like when we switch wardrobes from the summer and into the cozy sweaters of the fall. That feeling.

What started as a simple plan to reevaluate my offers to better build in my limited time, boundaries and again to be gentle on myself, while still providing a stellar, quality experience for clients, turned into a full rebrand.

Rebrand or Refresh?

I'm sharing a little of this behind the scenes because I know many of you have these same considerations.

In my case, it's maybe even less of a rebrand and more a refresh. A stepping more fully into myself.

The offers are pretty well the same, but repackaged. The brand colours remain, but the website is completely new (and not DIY.)

I invested in new headshots and brand photos (which haven't been done for nearly 6 years. 45 year old me needed new ones!) I got new business cards, support on copywriting. Friends, colleagues, clients - they all played a role in shaping this.

This refresh was done in the arms of a team - humans who supported me, cheered me on, and saw my vision.

I'm never going to be the most exciting entrepreneur - there's not flashiness here. But I will always be a calming presence for those I work with. That's my goal. That's what I hope the rebrand/refresh demonstrates.

What stays the same?

While things like my newsletter and podcast get a new name, the way I approach content, social media and you as a person who is running a business and just needs some guidance at times, is the same.

Thanks for being here - and as always, if you have questions and are thinking about your own rebrand, let me know and I'll share more!

~ Rebecca

I built and painted a blanket ladder from scratch this weekend. And no, this isn't a metaphor for something business related. Literally. Drilled, glued, painted. A blanket ladder. Proof: Okay fine. There's a business lesson here. Honestly, one of the best things I do for my business is step away from it. When you are thinking about content constantly, and spending more time forcing your next post or topic for your podcast or newsletter, you end up feeling more stressed, more overwhelmed and...

Should we talk about the fact that it's November and October disappeared so quickly we can hardly believe it? Maybe? The past many weeks have been hectic around here, filled with baseball, business and bon bons (I wanted to mention Halloween but keep up with the alliteration). I have been attending many events and as a content strategist, nothing gives me better data about what is happening on the ground for small business owners than being in person. We can scroll through Threads and our...

in a recent poll in my newsletter and on social media, people voted that they just want help deciding what to post next.
