πŸͺœ I made a ladder!! FROM SCRATCH!

I built and painted a blanket ladder from scratch this weekend. And no, this isn't a metaphor for something business related.

Literally. Drilled, glued, painted. A blanket ladder.

Proof:

Okay fine. There's a business lesson here.

Honestly, one of the best things I do for my business is step away from it. When you are thinking about content constantly, and spending more time forcing your next post or topic for your podcast or newsletter, you end up feeling more stressed, more overwhelmed and uninspired.

Take the break for creative sparks.

In this case, the 3+ hour workshop meant I was hands-on, thinking about measuring and drilling and assembly.

Not everything has to be for anything other than enjoyment (and in this case, furniture making).

So if you've been struggling with your content, you know that I'll recommend strategy and goal-setting to start.

But if all of that feels like walking through mud, step back. Take a break and remind yourself why you are doing what you do.

Want to take a wood workshop and use power tools too? Learn more about them here if you are in the Ottawa area.

p.s. Black Friday is coming up. Stick with me and the extra emails ;)

Once again, I've put together a series of offers beginning next week. This is one of the only times I offer discounts like these on some of my offers, and some of the deals are completely new and may not be offered again. It's a great time to get the support you need to end the year or begin 2026 with confidence that content will be less stress and I hope we have the chance to work together!

I do NOT like guessing about Black Friday deals, so here's the honest peek at what's coming so you can plan your favourite days or ask questions so you don't feel pressured.

I know you feel like you are 'following up' too much, but have you done it more than once? Or ONCE at all? Trust me, follow up is everything. Send the follow up DM or email you've been putting off ;)

In the third of a four-part series on branding and your content, I talk about the challenges with a rebrand, including the cost and time associated with it and I offer some warnings to look out for! Then, in the final part, I chat about what's next when considering branding and your business content.

Should we talk about the fact that it's November and October disappeared so quickly we can hardly believe it? Maybe? The past many weeks have been hectic around here, filled with baseball, business and bon bons (I wanted to mention Halloween but keep up with the alliteration). I have been attending many events and as a content strategist, nothing gives me better data about what is happening on the ground for small business owners than being in person. We can scroll through Threads and our...

When I stepped into 2025, I choose 'gentleness' as my word of the year. And that guiding principle has been quite consistent. Sure, there are always unexpected life stresses and business ups and downs thrown at me, but that gentleness as a pilot has proven quite useful. In that calmness that I tried to build this year, something unexpected happened. A spark. A desire for something new, and yet familiar. Maybe something more? It was like when we switch wardrobes from the summer and into the...

in a recent poll in my newsletter and on social media, people voted that they just want help deciding what to post next. Keep reading to find out how to figure that out: 🎧 Catch up on my podcast on Apple, Spotify or this link . In a recent episode, I shared the time I was a guest on the This Mother Means Business podcast and we chatted about building a business with kids of all ages. Not sure what to post next? You aren't alone. It doesn't make it any easier, but often when we don't know what...
